Find the Right Muffler for your Bobcat®
SPARK ARRESTOR
The term 'spark arrestor' means the muffler is designed in such a way that traps any glowing sparks created by the combustion of the engine, preventing them from exiting the tail pipe. This safety feature is a must if you use your Bobcat® skid steer around anything combustible such as dry grass and curtain chemicals.
DRAIN HOLE
Drain holes in mufflers are for letting out water or condensation that may have accumulated in the muffler over time. On spark arrestor mufflers, its also used for removing any sparks that the muffler may have caught during operation.
INSOLATED
An insolated muffler is a muffler that is wrapped by two outer steel layers, separated by a high heat dissipating material. Choosing an insolated muffler for your Bobcat® helps keep temperature levels of the engine compartment & the muffler casing down.
HIGHT TEMPERATURE COATING
Mufflers and flex pipes on Bobcat® skid steers do get hot. Make sure that the muffler/flex pipe your looking to purchase has been painted with a quality, high temp paint. If normal paint is used it will burn off quickly, exposing the bare steel to the elements and will have you looking for a new one in no time.
SHIPPING / SHIPPING TIMES
Mufflers for Bobcat® skid steers are fairly large parts. When price checking, make sure to add in any shipping and handling costs as these can add up fast. Also check the availability and location of the supplier as shipping times will differ greatly depending on their location.
DIRECT FITMENT
Direct fitment is key when shelling your hard earned money for a replacement muffler or flex pipe. Carefully check all photos before you buy, making sure the parts have all OEM mounting points, curves, and correct tail pipe positioning. Verify that the company can guarantee that their muffler/flex pipe will fit your Bobcat® skid steer, and that they will handle the problem if it doesn't.
REPUTABLE COMPANY
Make sure the company you want to buy from can answer any questions you may have, and answer them in a timely manner. Read their return policy, do they charge a re-stock fee? How soon will they ship the order?
